§ Mr. Dribergasked the Secretary of State for War whether the posting home of a soldier who has served overseas for six years or more is to be taken to mean that he will be kept on home service for the duration of the war; and, if not, how long such a man may normally expect to stay in this country?
§ Mr. A. HendersonAs far as possible postings are made in these cases which, it is hoped, will not entail the man's reembarkation in the near future. But my hon. Friend will appreciate that the situation in war-time is liable to change rapidly. No guarantee can therefore be given that in such cases a man will not be posted to a unit which is subsequently required for early embarkation, and I regret that no undertaking can be given that a man will be retained at home for any fixed period.
