§ Miss HorsbrughAccording to the returns for the year 1941 which are the latest in my Department, the hospitals with maternity provision carried on by380W local authorities, or with which the authorities have arrangements, and the nursing homes registered with them in the districts named are as follow:
— Maternity Hospitals Nursing Homes Hull … 1 7 Lincolnshire … 14 10 Manchester … 3 19 Cheshire … 12 70 Sheffield … 4 15 Bradford … 1 8 Essex … 18 81 In addition my right hon. Friend has set up emergency maternity homes in the rural areas for use in war-time, and of these there are three in Cheshire, one in Lincolnshire and one in Essex.
From information obtained from my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland it appears that there are eight maternity homes or hospitals in Glasgow and 27 nursing homes.
