HC Deb 26 January 1943 vol 386 cc375-6W
Mr. Price

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the shortage of electric batteries is making it impossible for some Home Guard members to use bicycles to get to their duties; that this means long walks after a tiring day's work; and whether he will issue orders to local commanders that these facts should be taken into consideration?

Mr. A. Henderson

I am aware of the difficulties referred to by my hon. Friend. I do not consider that special orders need be issued. Local commanders will, I am sure, take these difficulties into consideration. I understand, moreover, that the supply of batteries has lately improved.
