HC Deb 21 January 1943 vol 386 c321W
Mr. Wootton-Davies

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can make any statement as to bringing back to London at an early date some part, at least, of the evacuated Ministries; and whether he will take into consideration the fact that some of them are now more exposed to enemy attack than they would have been in the Metropolis?

Sir K. Wood

I do not know what particular cases my hon. Friend has in mind or on what evidence he bases his views on the location of enemy attacks in the future. I am afraid, however, that I can hold out no hope of a reversal of current policy under which the return of the evacuated staffs of Government Departments is in general forbidden.
