HC Deb 25 February 1943 vol 387 cc310-1W
Mr. Quibell

asked the Minister of Agriculture what steps he is taking to prevent a repetition of the recent flooding in certain parts of the Trent Valley, caused by certain frontagers refusing to allow the Catchment Board to strengthen the bank where their land abuts the river; and whether compensation is paid to the victims of these obstructive acts?

Mr. Hudson

Recent flooding of the Lower Trent Valley was due to an exceptionally high tide and not to the causes mentioned by the hon. Member. The second part of the Question, therefore, does not arise.
