§ Mr. Leachasked the Secretary of State for Air (1) why recruits to the Royal Air Force are never told that they may refuse vaccination and inoculation, so that the majority are unaware that they possess this right;
(2) whether he will make it clear to all officers, medical and otherwise, in the Royal Air Force that the fact that a man or woman has declined vaccination or inoculation, or both these operations, does not exclude them in any way from the normal entitlements of the Service, including medical attention in the event, of illness and pensions in the event of discharge?
§ Sir A. SinclairThe attention of recruiting officers and medical officers has been drawn to the fact that vaccination and inoculation are voluntary. Unwillingness to undergo them does not, of course, involve any loss of Service entitlements. My information is that recruits generally are well aware of the position, which is also fully understood throughout the Service. In these circumstances, I do not think that any further action is required.
