HC Deb 23 February 1943 vol 387 c39W
Mr. Mainwaring

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether wire-netting is made available for allotment holders with or without permits, or what alternative form of fencing is being provided?

Mr. Hudson

Permits for wire netting for agricultural fencing purposes are issued by war agricultural executive committees. Wire netting, being a steel product, is scarce, and committees are obliged to exercise economy in distributing their limited allocations. Strand wire or chestnut pale fencing are recommended as suitable substitutes for wire netting for protection of allotments.
