HC Deb 23 February 1943 vol 387 c36W
Mr. Murray

asked the Secretary of State for War whether it is necessary for men over 40 years of age, recommended for commission in administrative duties, to undergo the same physical training as younger candidates?

Sir J. Grigg

It is unusual for candidates over 40 years old to be recommended for commissions. Physical fitness is essential for those who are but it is unnecessary for them to reach the same standard of physical training as younger men.
