HC Deb 18 February 1943 vol 386 c1952W
Mr. Granville

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will take steps to ban the production of all luxury articles and, in particular, luxury rubber articles not essential to the war effort?

Mr. Dalton

I have taken, and will continue to take, steps to prohibit or restrict the output of luxury goods in order to release labour, factory space and raw materials for essential purposes. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Supply has already prohibited the use of rubber for a large variety of inessential articles.
