HC Deb 17 February 1943 vol 386 cc1758-9W
Mr. Butcher

asked the Minister of Production whether he will cause an examination to be made into the general organisation of such large undertakings as Imperial Chemical Industries, Limited, Vickers Armstrong, Limited, Lever Brothers and Unilever, Limited, to see whether, by breaking up these combines into smaller units, greater efficiency can be secured, unnecessary clerical work avoided and more personal relations established between workers and directors?

Mr. Lyttelton

No, Sir. I do not think that any useful purpose would be served by such an examination at the present time; but with regard to the last part of the Question I may add that the larger concerns have been in the forefront of those supporting the establishment of Joint Production Committees.
