§ Mr. Sorensenasked the Home Secretary whether he is satisfied that medical examination and treatment of prisoners is being efficiently carried out, particularly in reference to the incidence of venereal disease?
§ Mr. PeakeYes, Sir, but if my hon. Friend has information which leads him to think that there is some defect in the arrangements, I shall be glad to receive and consider it. As regards treatment, it must be remembered that most prison sentences are short and that the treatment which can be given to a prisoner suffering from venereal disease may be limited by the length of the sentence.
