HC Deb 17 February 1943 vol 386 c1749W
Mr. Hannah

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can give the House any information as to the steps that he proposes to take in the rebuilding of Malta, to preserve or restore what is left of the ancient monuments of the island?

Colonel Stanley

My hon. Friend will realise that under conditions of active warfare there has been little opportunity as yet to prepare detailed plans for the rebuilding of Malta after the war. I can assure him that the question of preserving the historic monuments and buildings of the island will receive the most careful consideration. But I am not in a position at this stage to make any further statement.
