§ Squadron-Leader Erringtonasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he is aware that the fish made available to the general public is less, proportionately, on Merseyside than in other parts of the country; and will he take step to improve the supply for this area?
§ Mr. MabaneI am aware that until recently Merseyside received less than its appropriate share of the supplies of fish landed in the North-western zone. This shortage was mainly due to the system of primary allocation at the main port in the zone. That system was modified in December and the new basis of distribution has now been in force for some time and as a consequence the supplies landed should now be distributed throughout the whole zone on an equitable basis.
