HC Deb 16 February 1943 vol 386 cc1602-3W
Sir A. Baillie

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works whether he will state six chief types of houses built by essentially rural district councils which he regards as both suitable to the locality and worthy of imitation under similar circumstances?

Mr. Hicks

No, Sir. I can, however, inform the hon. and gallant Member that, in connection with the proposed immediate construction of 3,000 houses for agricultural workers by rural district councils, my Noble Friend in consultation with the Minister of Health, has arranged for the preparation of typical designs of houses to suit various circumstances and requirements. Account has been taken of the best existing rural building, of the advice as to standards of accommodation of the Minister of Health's Central Housing Advisory Council and of the availability of various essential materials.
