HC Deb 11 February 1943 vol 386 c1458W
Sir P. Hannon

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider if the grant of an allowance on industrial alcohol under Section 15 (2) of the Finance Act, 1921, should be continued in present conditions?

Sir K. Wood

Yes, Sir. Conditions have altered greatly since 1921, and I have appointed a committee to examine the question. The members (who were formerly members of the Import Duties Advisory Committee) are Lord May (Chairman), Sir Percy Ashley and Sir Allan Powell, with Sir Harold Howitt as assessor. The Secretary is Mr. W. Rendell, Treasury. The Committee has begun to sit.
