§ Sir R. Clarryasked the Secretary of State for War the number of women joining the' Auxiliary Territorial Service as volunteers in each month during 1942 and for January, 1943, in respect of the whole country, and separately for Wales and Newport, Monmouth; and what direct expenses, rent, rates, salaries, etc., are involved in maintaining special recruiting centres in the three areas for obtaining volunteer recruits for the Auxiliary Territorial Service?
§ Sir J. GriggI regret that it is not in the public interest to give any figures of enlistments. The figures of direct expenses are not readily available and I trust my hon. Friend will agree that the time and labour required to obtain the information should not in present circumstances be devoted to this purpose.
