HC Deb 02 February 1943 vol 386 cc767-8W
Mr. Gledhill

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, with a view to the saving of man-power, he will place under the control of the Minister of Information the publicity staffs in other Government Departments?

Sir K. Wood

No, Sir. The policy of the Government on this matter remains as stated by my right hon. Friend the Lord President of the Council on 3rd July, 1941. Subject to this policy, the Government have taken steps from time to time, in the light of the changing manpower position, to ensure that all publicity staffs are kept to the essential minimum. I can assure my hon. Friend that the matter will remain under close review.
