HC Deb 17 December 1943 vol 395 c1822W
Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the military authorities now examining alternative accommodation for troops in the Freuchie, Fife, area have not yet made contact with the Fife County Council, who are responsible for housing in the district; and whether he will give instructions for such contact to be made forthwith so that the local population may feel satisfied that their needs are being properly safeguarded?

Sir J. Grigg

As is usual in such cases, the military authorities have been in close contact with the Fife County Council over this question. I understand that they have not again approached the county council since the alternative accommodation to which I referred in my reply to my hon. Friend on 7th December was recently examined, but they have been asked to do so in the hope of finding some solution of this problem.
