HC Deb 16 December 1943 vol 395 cc1708-9W
Major Lyons

asked the Minister of Health whether continuous research is being made into the cause and treatment of arthritis; and whether tests have been or are being made of the efficacy of electrically-activated ergosterol?

Mr. Willink

These questions continue to receive the active attention of the Empire Rheumatism Council whose last report was published in December, 1942. The development of research into the difficult and baffling question of causation is restricted by the lack of any promising fresh line of approach. New methods of treatment are tried out as they become available. I am not aware of any tests that have been or are being made in this country of the efficacy of electrically-activated ergosterol, but I am making inquiries as to the position in the United States.
