HC Deb 09 December 1943 vol 395 cc1156-7W
Mr. Thorne

asked the President of the Board of Trade why all articles at the sales of work in aid of local hospitals are all couponed, with the result that many people are prevented from buying the articles up for sale; and what action he intends taking about the matter?

Captain Waterhouse

All rationed goods must be subject to the provision for the collection of coupons, through whatever channels they are sold to the public. My right hon. Friend could not justify a concession in the case of sales of work as this would enable those who attend them to obtain more than their fair share of the limited supplies of clothing available.
