Mr. AlexanderKit upkeep allowance is credited to naval ratings at quarterly rates and in advance, and varies with the description of uniform worn.
The present quarterly rates are:
£ s. d. C.P.O's and P.O.'s 2 10 0 Other men not dressed as seamen 2 8 0 (e.g. artisans, writers and supply ratings, stewards and cooks.) Men dressed as seamen (namely, seamen and stokers below P.O.) 2 4 6 These rates are approximately 44 per cent., 45 per cent. and 65 per cent. above the rates in force in 1939.
