§ Dr. Summerskillasked the Minister of Health whether instructions have now been given for the removal of bombed furniture from the nurses' home at Queen Charlotte's Hospital, in order that more accommodation can be made available for patients in the hospital?
§ Miss HorsbrughMy right hon. Friend is still awaiting the proposal from the hospital to which he referred in his reply to the hon. Lady on 29th July. There seems to be a misunderstanding of the history of this case. The facts are that the uncompleted shell of the nurses' home was requisitioned in September, 1941, with the consent of the hospital, for the storage of furniture. In August, 1942, the question of completing the nurses' home was considered and arrangements were being made for the removal of the furniture when officers of the Ministry were informed that the hospital did not expect to need the nurses' home during the war and the use of the premises as a furniture store was, therefore, continued. No subsequent proposal for completing the nurses' home has yet been made to my right hon. Friend.
