Mr. Wedderburnasked the Minister of Labour how many of the staff who were previously employed at the Walkinshaw Street office of the Assistance Board in Johnstone, which has now been closed, have been called up for military service?
§ Mr. BevinI am informed that of the seven members of the staff in post when the Johnstone office of the Assistance Board was closed on the l0th April, 1943, only one is in an age group liable to call-up under the Military Service Acts; he is aged 42 and being, therefore, subject to reservation as a permanent civil servant has been transferred to fill a vacancy arising elsewhere in the Board's service. The remaining permanent staff comprises2472W one aged 44, one aged 56, two aged 51, all transferred elsewhere in the Board's service; also two women temporary clerks aged 46 and 40, respectively. One has been transferred to another Government Department and the other is awaiting transfer.
