HC Deb 04 August 1943 vol 391 c2311W
Mr. David Adams

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether it is intended that the proposed sale of the Jamaica All-Island Telephone System, against which there is general opposition in the Colony, should be deferred for reference to the legislative body to be set up under the new constitution?

Colonel Stanley

The question is being referred to the present Legislative Council in the first instance. In the event of their reaching a favourable decision, I shall have to decide, in the light of their deliberations, what further action to take.
