HC Deb 04 August 1943 vol 391 c2308W
Captain Gammons

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Governor of St. Helena is still acting also in the capacity of Chief Justice; and whether, while he was so acting, the procedure in High Court cases was varied where the Crown was involved either as plaintiff or defendant?

Colonel Stanley

The answer to the first part of the Question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part of the Question, the procedure governing the conduct of proceedings in the Supreme Court of St. Helena is that of the High Court of Justice in England, so far as it can possibly be adopted, and there is no power to vary it in the type of case to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers.
