HC Deb 04 August 1943 vol 391 cc2323-4W
Mr. A. Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that certain persons of Polish nationality, at present employed in His Majesty's Government Departments, are subject to penalties for having evaded military service with the Polish forces in this country; and what agreement has His Majesty's Government come to with the Polish Government to afford protection when hostilities cease to these people who have assisted in our war effort?

Mr. Eden

I am not aware of the particular cases which the hon. Member has in mind, but in general it would be out of the question for His Majesty's Government to enter into negotiations with a foreign Government for an agreement involving a limitation of that Government's jurisdiction over its own nationals on its own territory.
