§ Sir R. Glynasked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware of the damage being done to livestock and material by the increasing firing of live ammunition from aircraft on the Berkshire Downs; whether he will arrange to repair damage to barn roofs, etc, in view of the shortage of building labour and material and the importance of storing grain under proper conditions; and, when damage or injury is done to persons or livestock, what arrangements have been made to pay compensation and at what rates?
§ Sir A. SinclairFew cases of damage resulting from these necessary practices have been reported to me. If, however, difficulties arise in effecting repairs and my hon. and gallant Friend will let me have details, I will consult with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries as to how best to overcome them. Compensation for personal injuries caused by air tiring practices is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Minister of Pensions. Claims for damage to livestock are settled by my Department on the basis of current market values assessed in consultation with the local livestock officer.
