HC Deb 20 April 1943 vol 388 cc1552-3W
Mr. Rostron Duckworth

asked the Minister of Labour what steps are being taken to ensure that the best use is made of the services of women being called up at the present time; and what form of inspection of their duties exists?

Mr. Bevin

The primary responsibility for the efficient use of women's labour, whether in industry or the Services, rests with the employer and the Department concerned. Officers of my Department are in addition constantly undertaking inspections of firms and Government estab- lishments employing civilian labour in co-operation where necessary with the Department concerned.
