§ Sir W. Waylandasked the Minister of Labour why nurses are compelled to register up to the age of 60 whereas women in other occupations need not register after 45 years of age?
§ Mr. BevinThe age limits for the registration of nurses and midwives were those recommended to me by the recently formed National Advisory Council for the recruitment and distribution of nurses and midwives. In the special registrations of men belonging to certain occupations there was an age limit of 60 or over. In such registrations it is obviously necessary to include all persons of working age and not to limit them to the age so far reached by the general registrations.
