HC Deb 20 April 1943 vol 388 c1554W
Mr. J. Dugdale

asked the right hon. and gallant Member for Rye, as representing the Forestry Commissioners, why only 20 per cent. of all trees planted by the Commission during the past year are hard wood?

Sir G. Courthope

A far greater proportion of softwoods than hardwoods is utilised in this country. The proportion of the latter planted by the Forestry Commission is in fact weighted on the side of the hardwoods.
