HC Deb 15 April 1943 vol 388 c1396W
Mr. Mainwaring

asked the Attorney-General whether he has decided, as a means of combating juvenile delinquency, upon supporting a policy of appointing teacher-magistrates; and what steps are contemplated with a view to implementing the decision?

The Attorney-General

When appointments to a bench are required, my Noble Friend is glad to approve the appointment of teachers if there are submitted to him by his advisory committees the names of suitable members of the teaching profession who have the necessary time to devote to the work of a bench. My Noble Friend has already made a considerable number of appointments of teachers to the commissions both of counties and of boroughs.
