§ Sir R. Glynasked the Home Secretary what is the total strength of the National Fire Service in the United Kingdom, men and women respectively; and how many there are employed on administrative duties?
§ Mr. H. MorrisonIt would be undesirable on security grounds to give the total number of members of the National Fire Service. I may say, however, that less than 2½ per cent. of the National Fire Service in England and Wales, including full-time and part-time personnel, are engaged on administrative duties. The proportion of full-time personnel alone engaged on administrative duties is about 6 per cent.
