HC Deb 14 April 1943 vol 388 c1242W
Mr. Levy

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the reason for the Order in Council (Statutory Rules and Orders, 1943, No. 385), made under the provisions of the Navy and Marines (Property of Deceased) Act, 1865, which amends the Order in Council of 14th September, 1915?

Mr. Alexander

The purpose of the Order in Council is to simplify the procedure for disposing of the naval assets due to the estates of deceased officers and ratings by dispensing with independent certification of the claimant's identity in cases where the Admiralty has sufficient evidence of identity from particulars furnished by the deceased officer or rating during his service.
