HC Deb 14 April 1943 vol 388 c1224W
Sir R. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will consider the appointment of a special commissioner to the Republic of China, as also the establishment in that country of a fully staffed and equipped Press bureau?

Mr. Eden

I am not entirely clear what additional representation my hon. Friend has in mind. British representation in China is, of course, in the able hands of His Majesty's Ambassador at Chungking. He is already assisted by, among others, a representative of the Ministry of Information and a Press attaché with an adequate staff and offices, not only at the embassy at Chungking, but also at three branches elsewhere in China.
