§ Mr. Turtonasked the Secretary of State for Air (1) whether he is aware that since November, 1042, a number of officers in transit by air have been periodically immobilised at a place of which he has been informed; and whether, in order to prevent waste of officer man-power, he will ensure that officers are not despatched by air for transit through the place in question unless there is a probability that they will be able to complete their journey within a reasonable time;
(2) how many officers in transit by air have, since November, 1942, been immobilised for more than seven days, at a place of which he has been informed?
§ Sir A. SinclairSince the beginning of November, 128 officers in transit by air remained at the place in question for more than seven days. No officer begins the journey unless it is probable that he can complete it in reasonable time but the availability of air passages on the last stage1082W of the route may be affected at short notice by operational and other factors which cannot be foreseen.
