HC Deb 13 April 1943 vol 388 c1068W
Mr. Groves

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he is aware of the shortage of fish supplies in the county borough of West Ham; and whether, in view of the waste of time for housewives queuing-up for fish not available, he will cause inquiries to be made and ensure early improvement in this highly populated area?

Mr. Mabane

There has been a general shortage of fish supplies during the winter months, but it would appear that the county borough of West Ham received during the months of January and February its full proportionate entitlement of the limited supplies of fish then available. The increase in landings during the past few days has materially improved the position.
