Mr. Arthur Duckworth

asked the Paymaster-General whether the Inter-Departmental Committee on Civil Aviation has now been reconstituted; and whether he can state the composition of this committee and its terms of reference?

Sir W. Jowitt

The Inter-Departmental Committee on Civil Aviation, presided over by Sir Francis Shelmerdine, have submitted for the consideration of His Majesty's Government certain questions which have a fundamental bearing on the problems remitted to them. These questions are now being considered. The committee were appointed to make recommendations as regards the reconstruction, organisation and development of civil aviation after the war.
