HC Deb 11 September 1942 vol 383 cc548-9W
Sir H. Williams

asked the Secretary of State for Air (1) the estimated number of tanks at Gien when it was bombed last month; the estimated number destroyed or damaged; and the estimated number on the site prior to the bombing, when the photograph was taken which was supplied by his department to the Press on Sunday, 30th August;

(2) on what date his Department first received information as to the existence of the equipment depôt for tanks at Gien; on what date the first reconnaissance flight was made over the depôt; and whether he can furnish an estimate of the number of tanks which were shown on the photograph taken on the occasion of the reconnaissance and on the occasion of the early subsequent reconnaissance?

Captain Balfour

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given yesterday to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Stretford (Flight-Lieutenant Etherton). It would not be in the public interest to give the further information asked for.
