§ Mr. J. Dugdaleasked the Minister of Supply whether any satisfactory zoning arrangements have been made to provide for the allocation of particular areas to scrap-iron collectors, other than local authorities, so that overlapping and waste of labour and petrol may be prevented?
§ Mr. C. PeatThe activities of scrap merchants, apart from large-scale operations involving dismantling, are in practice confined to the areas where they have treatment and collecting facilities; and it is not considered, in view of the complex nature of the trade, that appreciable economies would be effected by specific zoning.
