HC Deb 08 September 1942 vol 383 c50W
Mr. David Adams

asked the Minister of Labour whether he has considered the provision of mobile dental units for industrial concerns whereby workers may save time spent in visits to private dentists and dental hospitals whilst relieving pressure upon the depleted staffs of these; and whether he will promote greater industrial efficiency by the prompt treatment of the dental requirements of workers?

Mr. Tomlinson

My right hon. Friend is aware of the importance of the care of teeth, and the question of arranging for mobile dental units without prejudice to other facilities has been repeatedly considered, but the shortage of dentists has been an obstacle, particularly as it has been felt that existing facilities would tend to be impaired if dentists were called upon to spend more of their time in visiting factories.
