HC Deb 08 September 1942 vol 383 c71W
Mr. Silkin

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether instalments of contributions under Part 1 of the War Damage Act are payable after the contributory property has been destroyed?

Captain Crookshank

I presume that my hon. Friend has in mind cases in which a "value payment" will be made in consequence of destruction of the property through war damage. In such a case so much of the contribution, including instalments not yet due, as has not been paid will, under Section 33 (1) of the War Damage Act, 1941, be deducted from the value payment. As regards properties destroyed otherwise than through war damage, I would remind him of the relief given by paragraph 13 Of the First Schedule to the War Damage (Amendment) Act, 1942, in regard to instalments of contribution for 1942 and subsequent years.
