§ Mr. N. Bowerasked the Minister of Fuel and Power what special instructions he has issued to local authorities with regard to economy in fuel; and how he ensures that they are properly observed?
Major Lloyd GeorgeI am considering the issue of a circular to local authorities on fuel economy at the present time. As regards the observance of any instructions issued, I feel sure that I can rely on the loyal co-operation of the local authorities themselves. Local authorities are, of course, subject to the statutory orders and directions of my Department in the same way as private persons.
§ Captain Pluggeasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is considering the utilisation of natural gas as a substitute for, or addition to, the supplies of town gas; and whether he is yet in a position to make a statement on the subject?
Major Lloyd GeorgeThe answer to the first part of the Question is in the affirmative. I am afraid I am not yet in a position to make a statement.
