HC Deb 08 September 1942 vol 383 cc51-2W
Sir R. Clarry

asked the Minister of Supply the name of the Director of Ropes; whether he is paid or unpaid; and what previous experience he has had in connection with rope manufacture?

Mr. Peat

My hon. Friend is presumably referring to Mr. Donald P. Frost, the Director of Cordage Production. Mr. Frost, who is unpaid, has had 40 years' experience in the rope trade. For 13 years before his appointment as Director of Cordage Production, a post he has held for two years, he was a general manager of British Ropes, Limited, responsible for hemp ropes. Mr. Frost is a member of the Technical Co-ordinating Committee on Cordage, of the British Standards Institute and of the Imperial Institute Committee on Vegetable Fibres.
