HC Deb 08 September 1942 vol 383 c43W
Mr. Simmonds

asked the Minister of Supply what order has been placed, or is proposed to be placed this year, for the supply of wooden hoops for the use of the Auxiliary Territorial Service; and whether such supply has been, or can be, made without any importation of timber?

Sir A. Duncan

Orders for 2,160 hoops for the physical training of the Auxiliary Territorial Service have already been placed. These hoops were made from home-grown timber. Demands for 2,400 additional hoops have been received. The War Office state that it is essential that the Auxiliary Territorial Service should have some apparatus for physical training and that hoops provide the simplest and most economical device for this purpose.
