HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 cc2135-6W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will inquire into the case, details of which have been sent to him, of a university graduate, with first-class honours in engineering and seven years training with the Officers Training Corps, who was allocated by an officer of the Labour Ministry to take up a post with an engineering firm working for the Government and, while so engaged, was called up by the War Office and assigned as a sapper to a Royal Engineers unit where he and a number of young men, equally well qualified, are receiving instruction in elementary mathematics and military drill; and whether he will use these highly-skilled technicians in ways more valuable to the war effort?

Sir J. Grigg

I am inquiring into this case and will communicate with my hon. Friend.
