HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 c2152W
Mr. Touche

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he expects to be in a position to introduce legislation concerning war damage to public utilities?

Sir K. Wood

As my hon. Friend will appreciate this subject is very complicated and difficult. Discussions have been proceeding with representatives of the principal public utility groups and I now propose to present to Parliament in the very near future a White Paper dealing fully with the main provisions which appear to me to be necessary. Some further discussions will be requisite to deal with outstanding technical points but I hope to be in a position to introduce a satisfactory Bill as early as possible in the new Session.
