HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 c2118W
Wing-Commander James

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware that persons acting for his Department are making a practice of inspecting growing timber and then making a provisional offer for purchase and suggesting drawing up a contract for sale at the named price without reference to the prices fixed by the Government or informing the owner of his rights and obligations, or of the measurement figures upon which their offer has been based; and whether he will take steps to put an end to this practice?

Mr. Peat

If my hon. and gallant Friend will give me particulars of cases where the practice referred to has been followed I will have inquiry made and inform him of the result.
