HC Deb 21 October 1942 vol 383 c1993W
Sir H. Morris-Jones

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been drawn to the scarcity of children's boots and shoes, particularly in Wales, owing to the distributive centre being mainly Bristol; and whether he will see before the coming winter that the position is ameliorated?

Captain Waterhouse

I am aware that there is some shortage. The production of leather footwear for children is already actually in excess of pre-war production and steps are being taken further to increase it so far as the supply situation allows. I have made special inquiries into the present stock position in Bristol and Cardiff, and I find that these areas are slightly better off than the average of the country as a whole.
