HC Deb 20 October 1942 vol 383 c1858W
Sir R. Glyn

asked the Postmaster-General whether he can yet say when improved facilities will be available at the telephone exchange at Oxford, in view of the existing congestion of traffic, which is on the increase, in consequence of which subscribers in Berkshire suffer serious disabilities frequently ventilated, so far, without result?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

The switchboard positions at the Oxford telephone exchange have been more than doubled during the war to meet the exceptional increase in traffic and arrangements are actively in hand to meet the further growth of traffic. Additional telephone circuits to distant towns have recently been brought into use and others will shortly be provided. The needs of the Oxford Exchange are under constant and close review and everything possible is being done to maintain a reasonable standard of service.
