Mr. Rostron Duckworthasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware that gas companies are removing 1849W gas meters, or charging more for their hire, where consumers economising on gas do not, in the opinion of the companies, use enough and whether he will put a stop to this practice?
§ Mr. T. SmithI am not aware of any gas undertakings having cut off supply or having increased the meter rent already charged because they consider enough gas is not used and if the hon. Member has information as to any such cases I shall be pleased to inquire into them.
